The main aim of the Girl Child Movement is to empower the girl children as members of the Movement and in general. We hope to harness all the good qualities girls have as individuals and as a group to build a better world for girls and the broader community through the following: - To get girls to discuss and find solutions to the challenges and difficulties they are faced with.
- To help girls to organize and conduct awareness programmes on issues such as male dominance, development of sexuality within the human body, etc.
- Organize events and activities around the communities where they stay to raise awareness amongst girls and boys about the problems girls face especially by the hands of boys and men.
- To unite girls to work together in an organized fashion to solve their own problems through self help projects.
- To release the full potential of the Girl Child members to enable them to participate in a meaningful way in the development of the Children’s Movement.
- To select a number of girls who could serve as trainers of programs intended for girls.
- To develop and implement cross-cultural programmes.
- To resource through the Girl Child Co-operative the implementation of projects for and with girls, e.g.: Hair care kits; sanitary towels.
- To set up Resource Centres, Advice Offices to assist girls with their problems.
