Culture

Members playing the drums at a National Children's Day EventThe main aim of the cultural programme is to provide the members with the opportunity to be both producers and consumers of the culture of the society in which they live.

African in influence, the programme includes:

  • visual art
  • modern and traditional dance
  • drama
  • singing
  • puppetry

The cultural programme also helps in the formation of bands, choirs and dancing groups; develops praise singers (imbongi); and encourages participation in non-competitive recreational games.

Activities are based on the core set of values the movement tries to promote.

A guide-line for all our cultural programmes is that it has to be of the members’ own creation. Mere imitations of local and international artists are discouraged.
