Media
Our Media-programme includes different aspects: the newsletters ("Voice of the Children" and "Soul Sista"), the radio, and the posters and banner making. The child-members have developed and produced an education and training video which will serve as a teaching tool. This was done with the assistance of Community Information Agency (CIA). We have acquired a video camera for internal use by children.

Newsletter

The Media Team evaluating a NewsletterThe newsletter, The Voice of the Children is presently published in three languages – Afrikaans, English and Xhosa. It gets published every 3 month. Our aim is eventually to have children run their own national newspaper so that they can participate in both the consumption and the production of the values they are expected to live by; and of the news that is spoken about around them and in this way make their voices heard through their own paper "The Voice of the Children". The media team, consisting of child-members, puts together the newsletter with assistance of the newsletter co-ordinator.

Radio

A team of Child members have been trained to help produce and broadcast programmes on the work of the organisation. Programme are broadcast in the languages the children speak.

Young member reading the NewsletterWhy media BY children, FOR children and WITH children?

Children must not only be consumers of news and the culture around them but are expected to live and be judged by them and also be partners in the production of those values and that culture presented in the Media which we believe should be many-sided and represented of all our people.

Therefore we have interpreters so that the languages our members speak are taken into account and all the children can be part of creating our Media and also understand the outcomes.
